The Nickel- Downtown Los Angeles Has Something To Talk About
http://nickeldiner.com/
Slow food concept fast diner, real food, total authentic leather booths, downtown LA cult following, local women Kristin Trattner and Monica May, the owners and THE divas of the diner. Famous for a maple and bacon doughnut blending the perfect balance of sweetly salty. The Nickel invented this taste treat. Think French toast and bacon in a bite. Amazing desserts, hearty comfort food, hip clientele from the tattoo set to urban foodies. Be prepared for lines on Sunday morning
Love the breakfasts. Love the owners. So does most of Los Angeles.

Authentic Never Worn Vintage Couture
Gale Parker's Clothespin in the heart of L.A
Clothespin Gale Parker
Going into Gale’s shoppe on Melrose is like being in a cozy stylish gypsy set living room with Moroccan rugs, interesting adornments from a life well lived from Paris to New York, the wilds of Northern California to the essence of Gale's eclectic and highly refined aesthetics. I used to be her neighbor and always loved going to her home and being inspired by her style and her passion for quality. She truly is a refined mix of bohemian adventuress, classic New York and European elegance and an earthiness that is all her own. A former editor at Vogue, head designer for Ralph Lauren and muse to Yves St Laurent and Valentino in Europe, Los Angeles is lucky to have her influencing a new generation of style and authenticity.
Clothespin is dedicated to living life well. They make their clothing out of authentic, never worn vintage materials, organic yarns, and refurbished original vintage pieces because they believe their quality and beauty to be unequaled by most products made today and also because they believe in leaving the greenest footprint possible. By using vintage fabrics, buttons, trim and lace, they are not adding to the already gigantic amount of waste in the world today and instead, are reincarnating these forgotten treasures into one of a kind collectibles.
The Clothespin Collection, designed by Gale Parker, is the first “green” collection of designer clothing, introducing gamine dresses, blouses and skirts that have been reincarnated from never worn vintage rayon fabric and are adorned with antique French beads, buttons, and lace.
Each collectible, one of a kind piece, with it’s feminine and flirtatious fit, is a labor of love. Each dress is made with an incredible eye to detail. Soft elegance emanates.
