With our Help, a Historic Theatre Becomes a Hotel- Spectra Company
The team: Our Los Angeles historic restoration team recently completed renovations on another historic LA landmark: The Ace Hotel, which is in a building that was originally constructed nearly 90 years ago. Until 2014, The Ace Hotel was not a hotel at all; it was the historic United Artists Building, which the maverick UA film studio built in 1927. The building functioned as a theatre and offices, and it was a sight to behold.
Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles opened early 2014 in the historic United Artists building in Downtown LA. An ornate, storied and vibrant Los Angeles gem, Downtown is undergoing a renaissance. Built in 1927 for the maverick film studio, the UA theater and tower stand as monuments to a group of seminal American artists pushing out on their own.
Known as the “Last of The Great Railway Stations”, the 1939 Los Angeles Union Station was designed by architects John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson. This building replaced the older La Grande Station and Central Station making it the largest railroad passenger terminal in the Western United States. The building boasts Mission Revival, Art Deco and Streamline Moderne architectural styles and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The city within many cities continues to grow up and within and even has a river running through it too.
Mission: We are a non-profit organization founded in 1986 to protect and restore the natural and historic heritage of the Los Angeles River and its riparian habitat through inclusive planning, education and wise stewardship.
