Slow Travel At Sundance Resort
A Custom Fit
“People here come from all walks of life, but one belief is shared: our community should represent who we are and what we believe. Sundance is an arts community, a recreational community, a community of people who appreciate the beauty of nature and feel the responsibility to preserve it. We want to help you find those elements of the Sundance experience which will most meet your needs and your dreams. As you'll see, Sundance has many shapes, many moods, and many possibilities. Somewhere in our community awaits an experience which belongs to you and we are committed to helping you find it.”
- Robert Redford
Home of Sundance Film Festival - Sundance Resort The Slow Spot
Sundance offers the quiet of going out into the woods on snow shoes or cross country at night to a full moon in Utah. At Sundance Resort it is surreal. Other lodges old school and high tech have trails and fireplaces but you won't find bad carpet and unhealthy food, a glitzy or overdone anything at this earthy mountain retreat. There's something about Sundance, Robert Redford's environmental playground which is an incubator of savory eco resort delights from the gorgeous canyon it is nestled in to the creative, inspired energy of the place. You can have silence, a cardio romp in the magical woods of the resort or downhill ski and snowboard. For the slow life, snowshoes, cross country skis, a low octane lodge with big fireplaces earth to table natural style chic dining at The Tree Room, or hanging out in your jeans for a drink at The Owl Bar is just Ski Resort Heaven. After all the actual bar is from the set of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, a quintessential western watering hole.

It's a bit like eco luxury with a dash of rugged Hollywood with Indie film undertones and lots of candid black and white photography. You get inside views of the actors and directors at work in the labs on the campus of Sundance over the years. It is the birthing ground of the Sundance film Festival and Robert Redford's extended home. Nature and film buffs who take their atmosphere slow will love this place. The resort captures the essence of the Wasatch mountain's majesty serving the land with cultural and environmental appreciation at every turn. Here's Redford's vision statement:
Robert Redford On Sundance Resort Sundance Film Festival's Home
This place in the mountains, amid nature's casualness toward death and birth, is the perfect host for the inspiration of ideas: harsh at times, life threatening in its winters of destruction, but tender in attention to the details of every petal of every wildflower resurrected in the spring. Nature and creativity obey the same laws,
to the same end: life.
- Robert Redford
A real visionary on so many levels, Sundance is a place to transform and for its founder it was only natural.
