Courage
Women, Animals, Nature
I love these pictures below by Gregory Colbert with feminine images next to wild animals and the soft fierce comfort level the photos evoke.
Nature Woman Animals Comfort
The Wild Effect
I have always felt at home outside. I also like to have company, know that I am not alone, hope not to run into bears, sharks, mountain lions or snakes when doing what I love. After the book Wild came out, I was most impressed with Cheryl's bravery in the big empty with herself miles from nowhere surrounded by so much infinity and possibility. I only bring it up because she cracked the code of mainstreaming women wandering alone in nature on a major commercial scale. I play with this concept on much smaller scales just by being a woman who likes to be outside alone and with friends.
The Origins of Comfort
Outside
is it learned, nurtured, cultivated or our NATURE?
As a woman who hikes alone and sometimes skis and explores underwater solo it has become a little more challenging. I like knowing that someone is near by it helps me feel more comfortable in nature.
And playful!

Others To Feel Safe? I Do...
When I am completely absorbed in the outdoors doing something I love, I feel free. I don't feel that freedom when I am completely alone though. I feel vulnerable when I am alone in nature so there are limits to my joy and pure liberated freedom. I admire women who can backpack alone and sleep in the wilderness. It takes courage.
