Inspired Little Gems- Los Angeles On Slow Food
The Broad Museum downtown LA is across the courtyard from this delightful kitchen. It's a simple walk after feasting your eyes on contemporary art and architecture so it's a mere stroll. Immerse in the civic wonderland of our evolving city and check out Otium, an inspiring mix of modern California cuisine reminding me of what's best about Southern France, Italy and wine country, punctuated by ancient olive trees, reclaimed wooden tables and firewood, modern lighting, pottery and rustic stylish guideposts that are casual and compelling. I love it.
Otium is a contemporary restaurant that draws from the culinary heritage of Chef Timothy Hollingsworth. It is designed to be a social restaurant with an open kitchen urging indoor and outdoor spaces. The restaurant's name, Otium, has its roots in Latin, a word that is meant to emphasize a place where time can be spent on leisurely social activities. I'm all about that!!!

Slow Feel - This Culver City gem is what Southern California imagines as Tapas our way, small plates, farm to table deliciousness, quirky, stylish, bistro industrial. I love the design and the food. Feast your eyes on the look and the food. Eat, drink and be slowly charmed. The Wallace 3833 Main Street, Culver City CA
Owned by husband-and-wife team Michael and Carol Teich. She runs the front of house, he runs the kitchen. Michael and beverage director Holly Zack hail from hospitality company SBE
Down to the Beach to Oscar's Cerveteca where carrera marble meets reclaimed wood, local mama of the owner cooks latin dishes, with a medley of African, Cuban, Peruvian, Mexican dishes and amazing beer. Yes they have a good California wine list. Very diverse and fresh hand made food in a stylish intimate pub setting with a lively sidewalk cafe. The power is in the food and the details in the always bohemian Venice hood. It's loud, crowded, intimate and accessible so you can have a conversation and people watch and did I mention stylish and locally cured?
Sidewalk slow talking Mexi Cali global food fest with beers from all over the world. Rose Avenue in Venice is emerging and Oscar's is an anchor of quintessential casual food and what life is like in So Cal

Farm Dinners On The Malibu Pier @ Malibu Farm
With Swedish Table Creator Helene Hendersen In The Kitchen
Located on The Malibu Pier The Pier Cafe
fish to fork | farm to table and all of that good stuff as well as stunning design by Vanessa Alexander
The focus here is on super-simple food, heavy on vegetables and grains and without too many sauces. Breakfast features items like quinoa oatmeal with maple syrup and coconut milk, and scrambled farm eggs with seasonal vegetables. Swedish mini pancakes with whipped cream and berries offer a taste of Henderson’s heritage.
Hugely popular on the lunch menu are the kale Caesar salad and the chicken-ricotta-bacon burger. Cauliflower lavash pizza brings the farm to the table. Beverages include freshly squeezed juices like orange, kale, and beet, which can be blended, and the best-ever homemade lemonade. Curbside pickup—at the front end of the pier—is available for those who don’t have time to take in the view.
“Fresh, Organic, Local” is Malibu Farm’s motto. It’s on everything from the menu that lists the four local farms that provide so many of Henderson’s ingredients to the sign over the counter where you order. They’re delicious words to live— and eat—by.
